  "Circumcision is a sign to set you apart from the people of the nations"

  we know that the hebrew scriptures, or old testament states that the practice of circumcision (of males) was supposed to be yet another sign that set the jews apart from the "people of the nations".

  but apart from so many odd things, how dumb is this?.

  i mean, how did someone know if a male was circumcised or not??

  So in the new system, will everyone's foreskin grow back??? Will Abraham and all his contemporaries be resurrected Circumcised or intact? Inquiring minds want to know.

  Yeah....always wondered about that too and I wondered why this topic was discussed so often at the meetings.

  At one of the last meetings I attended, I remember a little girl raising her hand during the watchtower study and in her little girl voice, began telling us in detail, the difference between actual circumcision and circumcision of the heart. It was one of those moments you hoped there wasn't anyone new there.

  i've been slandered and all that, shunned by some but not all, but the elders basically leave me alone.

  some years ago, i attended a jw wedding.

  marriage speaker said something which changed my life for the better, and it helps me even now.

  he told the couple: “the very make up of man and woman is such that conflicts can often arise between you.

  Public Speaking

  I used to think that having done public speaking via the Ministry School was a good thing but I've since come to realize that the skills I gained are only good if someone else supplies the materials to be used and I'm speaking to an audience that is already in agreement with everything I'm going to say.

  It's quite another matter to speak publically about ones own thoughts and have them questioned or challenged by those who are listening, especially if you've been "spoiled" by never having to express your own thoughts or have never had them challenged or questioned.

  Keeping your eye simple

  I do think that the idea of keeping a "simple eye" in terms of materialism and debt, has been beneficial to me but JW's weren't the first and only ones to realize that if you live a life free of materialism and stay out of debt, things will be easier for you in the long run.

  They've always been quite efficient when it comes to collecting money but what is the deal with JW's and their insistence upon forming "human chains" and passing supplies to each other one by one instead of bring them directly to where they need to be?

  I was on a quick build once and someone parked a truck full of seats out in the parking lot and they handed them one by one down a human chain of about 20 people instead of backing the truck up to the front door of the Kingdom Hall.
  

  

  

  Seconds later a well meaning Ministerial Servant reminded this sister not to be checking her facebook page in the Kingdom Hall as it sets a bad example to the young ones.

  Just woke up turn TV on to hear yet another nut case with a gun.

  first they said 20 dead with 100 injured.

  now i just heard 50 dead and 200 injured.

  whatever it is it just another nut case who was able to get a high power gun to kill people.

  It's not allowed... but people do it anyway, the same way they hold up banks, drink and drive etc, all of which are illegal activities.

  It was just a matter of time until these shootings went from schools and workplaces where a disgruntled individual targeted people he knew. Now (as I long suspected it would), it has crossed into public venues where seemingly random individuals on a large scale, are the target.

  I'm curious as to how (according to the news) he got 12 or more good sized weapons into a hotel without being noticed.

  Paradise? Was it?

  paradisewas it really paradise to be in paradise?adam and eve never were held by a mother, never cuddled and sung to with a lullaby nor nursed or coddled with tenderness or any human familial embrace.

  the first humans (adam and eve) never learned to toddle surrounded by brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles and grandparents cheering them on.

  the entire experience of childhood was excised surgically like a trauma patient awakening from an accident with amnesia.adam and eve were never in a neighborhood with other kids forming friendship bonds for life and exchanging dreams and hopes for a future they were building in their community.

  Adam: (rubbing his side) That's an Aardvark Eve, but once again, you must remember that for the rest of eternity you mustn't nudge me on this side where my rib used to be cause' when you do, your elbow hits my spleen and it really hurts.

  Eve: Hurts? What is this thing you call "hurts"?

  i have no idea where i stand anymore regarding being a jw and where i stand in my marriage.. im 28 years old and the years are certainly ticking by.

  Sorry to sound harsh Ponyo and to seem as if I'm trivializing you pain but based on what you've told us here, I'd say you alone are the source of the "emptiness" that you speak of. If you think about it, the things that you are fretting about, are "first world" problems. There are millions of women around the globe who would love to have a life as "bad" as yours. They'd love to have healthy children, a stable life and a hard working man who loves them. Why not focus on what you have rather than torturing yourself by revisiting something that is over. If you do that, your problem is solved.

  There is an expression "You can't go home again" and there's a pretty good chance that it might apply to your situation. After the experiences you’ve been through, (marriage, motherhood and returning to the JW's) nothing will ever be the same as it used to be. So the “home” that you remember doesn’t really exist anymore, because the “you” from the days that you remember doesn’t exist anymore.
  

  When you catch yourself going down the "what if I'd have chosen Sam instead of Leo path" switch channels and say to yourself. " thank you very much but I've already gone down this road and I've chosen to love the father of my children and appreciate what I HAVE and not daydream about what might have been". Sam is not an option to you anymore and neither is destroying your children's happy home. Stop torturing yourself by revisiting this topic and move on.

  I want to feel badly for you and go along with the pity you are feeling for yourself over all of this but the Husband and Father in me realizes that you have messed up the lives of 2 good men with your nonsense and are considering messing up the lives of your children as well.

  The problem isn't Sam or Leo or the JW's ....the problem is your apparent inability to get past your romantic notions and see what's right in front of you.

  You then allowed things to proceed with Sam even though you weren't actually attracted to him and believed at the time, it was wrong for you to have a boyfriend. You even expected him to join a religion you didn't quite believe in, yourself. Then you took up with someone else while he was jumping through all of your JW hoops. Wasn't Sam a lucky fellow to have found such a catch?

  You allowed things to proceed with Leo even though you were separated from the wonderful Sam due to your initial indecisiveness and ongoing JW drama. Wasn't Leo (and his future children) a lucky fellow to have found you?
  

  My kids are my everything and they come first. I don't want to do anything that hurts them. I'm so torn. My mind never stops. I'm so tired. I'm in a conflicting state of mind all the time.

  Hopefully you'll realize that the inability to control your own thoughts (your emotional immaturity) is what's at the root of your problem. You have a great hard working husband that you seem to at least like a lot, a good life and kids you love and unless you stop entertaining these romantic notions about the past, learn how to control your thoughts and emotions and focus on what you have, you'd better fasten your seat belt cause' you're in for a very bumpy ride. Maybe that's what you want....a little drama to liven things up. Sometimes people who come from a chaotic background, don't feel comfortable when things are going well.
